This 60-page, all-in-one guide to ABRSM Grade 5 music theory covers all the knowledge students need to pass the Grade 5 exam.

The six chapters explore all the topics covered in the exam, presented in the same order:

• Rhythm
• Pitch
• Keys & Scales
• Intervals
• Chords
• Terms & Signs

Each chapter includes a summary of the required knowledge, along with hints or tips about how to approach the exam questions. A few practice questions are provided at the end of each chapter, to test understanding.

This book can be used with a teacher or independently, either as a standalone resource or as a companion to the ABRSM Grade 5 theory workbook. It will fill in gaps in knowledge for students who haven’t studied music theory at earlier grades, or who will benefit from extra support.

A piano teacher and editor, I copy-edited ABRSM’s series of Discovering Music Theory workbooks. I also copy-edited/proofread ABRSM theory exam papers over many years. I hope this resource will help your students as it has helped mine.
